june reads

Oh my gosh – this was the best reading month I’ve had in AGES. Maybe in years? I loved every book I read. To the point where some of them gave me a good book hangover: you’re so depressed the story is over, you feel like the characters are your friends and now you have no idea what to read next, because you just want your friends back!

SO excited for the rest of the summer because I have some great books lined up.

You can find some mini reviews and thoughts on the books below. And in case you missed it, I shared my summer reading list here.

I’d love to hear below what you read this month!

WHAT I READ IN JUNE 2022

Every Summer After – 5 stars

I would give this 10 stars if I could. I am still thinking about this book! The story follows a girl who returns to her summer lake location for a funeral. These chapters go back and forth from past to present in the best way possible – I couldn’t wait to get to the next one. I flew through this book. The setting for this reminded me so much of where we go in Northern Michigan. I adored it!

The Hotel Nantucket – 5 stars

It’s no secret I wait all year for Elin’s books! I ended up LOVING this one. The story follows the historic hotel Nantucket and all it’s characters, guests and a supposed ghost that haunts it. At first I wasn’t sure if I would be hooked because there are so many character storylines, but that ended up being my favorite part. I also ended up enjoying the ghost storyline too. The characters in this are fantastic. I will say that I guessed the twist/influencer early on but I absolutely loved how the story played out. It was quintessential nantucket storyline and such a great escape.

Meant To Be – 4 stars

Emily Giffin was one of my first favorite authors with Something Borrowed. I really really liked this one – I just liked the others I read this month more. It’s very possible I could have read this in a different month and enjoyed it more. This story follows a couple – who are basically JFK Jr and Carolyn Bessette – and their love story. Lots of family drama and is very enjoyable and easy to read. I liked that it had both points of view. I was young when JFK Jr died but remember watching the news coverage and could feel the sadness from everyone.

Vacationland – 5 stars

I just finished this last week and loved it so much. The story follows two women, one on vacation with her kids and one not sure of her future – in Maine for the summer. Again, I enjoyed this so much because of the backdrop. New England is one of my faves. Loved these characters and could not put this book down once I got into it. Probably because it’s another one that really reminded me of my family’s summer vacations.

Counterfeit – 4 stars

Finished this on Sunday and loved it. It’s a quick read and is face paced enough to keep anyone interested!! The story follows a woman who appears to have a perfect life, but on the inside it’s anything but perfect. She reconnects with a college friend and gets pulled into her counterfeit scheme. I couldn’t put it down and it was funny too. The only downside for me is that I’ve read/watched so many scammer/con artist shows and books lately that I’m kind of over that part.
