Tuesday Things.
1. The fact that a whole new YEAR started on a Monday! The perfection. I can’t handle it.
2. Apparently it’s bad luck to clean on the first day of the new year? That’s all I did yesterday. Now I am scared.
3. Craving this mojita cake! It’s gorgeous.
4. Pantone color of the year is peach fuzz. I like it.
5. I love the start of a new year but it makes me so sad to take Christmas down. I wish I could find a way to decorate and keep it cozy and sparkly!
6. TV things!! I am missing so many shows! This time of year is when Emily in Paris and Ginny & Georgia would come out – ugh! The strike just killed the timing my favorite shows, haha.
7. Some foods that defined 2023. Definitely not on my list.
8. Winter reading list is coming!! Sorry I failed at the fall one!
9. I can’t sing the praises of this candle warmer enough. I love the ambiance it gives. I love that there is no flame! And the scent throw – you can smell a candle throughout the house. It’s my favorite thing ever.
10. As much as I love the new year, I am so over everyone’s ins and outs on instagram. There I said it.

could NOT agree more about the ins and outs lists!!! haha – so over it!!! :D
This is the MOST I’ve ever related to a Tuesday Things post!! YESSS I get so sad putting away Christmas. The candle warmer (or just candles in general) are like a band-aid for missing all the Christmas white light warmth. People, please stop with the In/Out madness And Emily needs to get back to Paris!
I got a candle warmer for Christmas and love it! There are so many people posting about “Ins and Outs” for the year! Happy New Year!
After I take down my Christmas Decorations, I leave up my small decorative mercury glass green trees, gold trees, and white trees; I also decorate the house with brass candlesticks, taper candles, cream-colored textured blankets and throws, and dark green velvet ribbon. The cozy ambiance of winter greens, golds, and whites linger through January even though the actual Christmas decorations are gone.
I love that the new year started on a Monday too. And, like you, I spent most of yesterday cleaning. I don’t think it’s bad luck at all!
Happy new year! I’ve started keeping a “winter” box in my decorating boxes…twinkly lights, snowflakes, etc. That way when I take Christmas down there is still a little bit of sparkle left. It’s helped with the transition! :)
A lot of my Christmas decor is snowman themed so I can pack up the real Christmas-y stuff at the beginning of the year but I leave anything that reads as just winter or snowman up till the end of January. Makes what can be a dull month more fun.
Honestly, any social media trend gets annoying after day 1 because it’s repeated SO MUCH. But oops if cleaning on NYD is wrong, then so be it!
The first person I thought of when I realized the year starts on a Monday was you! I was like “this is going to make Jess incredibly happy and she will not be able to handle it” haha.
Happy New Year!!! I’ve been following you since 2009 (FOURTEEN YEARS) and can’t wait for more!
Not related to Tuesday Things but did I miss your annual “recipe fails” post??? I always love that. Hopefully that means that 2023 was nothing but smooth sailing in the kitchen LOL.
Yassss! Finally, someone with gumption to buck the In-Out trend. It just screamed “well, everyone’s doing it!”
I guess I’m not one of the cool kids…I have no idea what the Instagram In and Out is but now am intrigued and will look it up…I was also missing all the sparkly, festive Christmas vibes when I put decorations away so I bought “olive leaves garland” from Amazon and put it on my mantle when I redecorated for winter/everyday. It satisfies my need for sparkly lights and looks great! As for cleaning on NYDay…I look at that as a great way to start the new year! Happy New Year to you and your family!
