Summer Fridays, Vol 3.
Happy summer friday! Here’s what’s happening this weekend.
We’ve had a scorcher of a week – it’s been in the 90s! I want all the chilled, crunchy snacks, so my mango avocado shrimp salsa is on the list. Also doing my summer chickpeas salad and 20 minute summer squash pasta.
Fresh cherry lime vodka sodas. Eddie absolutely loves these.
A summer smoked salmon platter on Sunday for Father’s Day Brunch. Cannot wait.
My banana cake with coffee cream cheese frosting. Cannot get enough of this.
My coconut cream cold brew. ‘Tis the season! Gosh I love this.
Speaking of, on Monday, I’ll be in conversation with Elin on her book tour here in Pittsburgh. It’s at my favorite local bookshop and while the event is sold out, there are now tickets available for the screening next door, so you’re still able to come and get your book signed!
We are taking a little staycation at Nemacolin this weekend which is less than hour from us! The kids are so excited and we have a fun weekend planned. Kinda started out with a bang last night with broken air conditioning on the hottest day of the year, but fingers crossed for today!
I am obsessed with sun protection for my face and I’ve talked about this visor every single year. It’s so lightweight, fairly flattering, easy to wear. I have many of them but now there are so many variations! I love the neon blocks, metallic, speckled and of course, the classic straw. I LIVE in this in the summer and have even been wearing it to all ours kids’ baseball games.
Another thing I love is the Aura frame. We got one of these for Eddie’s mom for christmas, I just got one for my mom’s birthday and I got Eddie one for Father’s Day for his office. It is incredible and I think it’s the perfect gift for parents/grandparents, because you can upload all the pics directly through an app and they “magically” appear on their frame. Every week when I do my week in the life post, I just go to the app and upload my favorites of the kids to all the frames. It’s incredible! I will note that I prefer the vertical frame, but that may just be because of my job – all my photos are taken vertically 99% of the time.
I came across the didn’t I just feed you podcast by total accident. I listened to a few recent episodes and loved it! They have great ideas on summer snacks, pool snacks, etc. It’s great for taking stress out of feeding kids. Also, I absolutely LOVE this podcast episode of how to come home from vacation by the lazy genius.
Father’s Day weekend! You can find my full recipe guide here. I’m going to make some delicious things on Sunday!
